How We See The World

Here’s how we see the world; see if it clicks with you, whether you’d call yourself a Christian yet or not.

Our core identity at Grace Church is that we believe in Jesus and follow him. This means we believe Jesus is the key to knowing God. We have a very high regard for the Bible, which tells us about Jesus – who he was and is, and what he did and promises still to do. We have discovered that the Bible makes great sense of our experiences of this world – a world full of so much good but also so much evil. We recognise a nagging sense that there should be something better and sweeter to life. The Bible says there is a way to find the answer to these deep longings.

The problem, says the Bible, is that we’ve all put ourselves at the centre of our universe, and that causes problems because we were designed to have God at the centre. So the Bible says we need to let God be God in and over our lives. We recognise that none of us can be good enough for God. We all fall short of his standards, and even our own standards. We need God to forgive us for the mess we’ve made of our lives in the past. We need God to give us a fresh start, with him taking control from now on. This is what the Bible means when it talks about ‘repenting of our sins’ (Acts 3:19).

God is good and has our best interests at heart, which means we can trust him as we turn back to him and trust his Son Jesus to forgive us and change us. Even though life is not always easy, we find Jesus is right when he said that he came to give life in all its fullness (John 10:10). That fullness is found as Jesus brings us into his ever-expanding family of Christians.

With Jesus leading our lives, we at Grace Church are a community who have found a relationship that brings purpose and meaning, security and hope, forgiveness and joy. This is why knowing Jesus and making him known is what matters to us at Grace Church. It’s what makes us tick. It’s our DNA.
